Title: Real Eyes Realise Real Lies.
The mural features three women holding hands, dancing gracefully in a
circle. It draws reference from the famous classical painting by
Matisse, called Dance, to imply the same feeling of emotional
liberation Matisse intended. But instead of using five figures like the
original painting, this mural only utilises three women, each
representing the three primary colours: red, blue, and yellow. This is
supposed to show unity and inclusivity, of how from these three basic
colours you can create any colour in the world by mixing them together
with the right amount. This is intended to portray the harmonious
multicultural nation Malaysia can become, if we are able to acknowledge
our differences and ‘mix’ up our different culture and ideologies to
create something totally new. Unlike the original, the women is also
clothed in white flowing dress to show movement. The white dress also
implies purity, or a new start: like a white canvas, ready to be
painted. This pays tribute to the fresh new start the Sasaran community
is trying to achieve by turning fishing village into an art hub that
promotes cultural exchange locally and globally
